California Black Chamber of Commerce Endorses Laurette Healey

Continuing Her Winning Streak of Endorsements, Healey Wins Backing From Major Statewide Group

The California Black Chamber of Commerce endorsed San Fernando Valley businesswoman and green jobs development professional Laurette Healey today in her bid for California State Assembly District 46.

Today’s endorsement comes on the heels of recent endorsements Healey has received, including California State Senator Ron Calderon, California State Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, and Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz.

“Laurette Healey has a fundamental understanding of the complex relationships between business, labor and education. Her experience in the private sector combined with her unique understanding of government makes her the ideal candidate to represent the interests of her District, and the interests of citizens across this great state of California,” Celes King IV, Board Member California Black Chamber of Commerce.

“As a candidate running on a platform of fixing our State’s economy and creating more jobs, this is an enormous endorsement to my campaign,” said Healey. “The California Black Chamber of Commerce knows that I’ll be a fighter for them, and that I’ll work every day in Sacramento to find solutions on how we can get California back on its feet, and get people back to work.”

Healey continued, “I plan to bring my experience of developing smart solutions to help small businesses grow, along with my skills of creating innovative workforce training programs to the legislature, so that we can rebuild our State’s economy and get businesses back in the business of hiring more workers. By doing this, we can once again make California an economic leader and powerhouse in our nation.”

The California Black Chamber of Commerce is the largest African American non-profit business organization representing hundreds of small and emerging businesses, affiliates and chambers of commerce throughout the state.

Meet Laurette Healey

I have given my all as a community advocate, businesswoman, and resident of the Valley for 20 years, and I have witnessed firsthand that our community is struggling. Working families are stressed by the instability of their jobs, and mounting foreclosures have devastated our home values. Our government must get down to business. I believe I can offer real solutions before we run out of time.

During these tough times I coordinated the largest renewable energy workforce training in the State of California, which re-trained displaced workers in the construction industry in State Certified green building technologies which resulted in one of the highest job placements (over 50%) statewide.

As as a former Deputy State Controller, I worked to root-out waste, fraud and abuse in government, in order to make sure our state gets the most out of its financial resources. When I take my place as an elected representative of our community, I'll lead our fight to make Sacramento more efficient, and take swift action to fuel small businesses, protect our senior citizens, fix our schools, and stabilize the lives of working families. I have a seasoned track record of knowing how to do it, and I will work hard to make that happen.
